Lower & Upper Abdomen

You will initially be given an in-depth explanation of the CoolSculpting procedure. Once you have fully understood and decided to go ahead with the treatment, your doctor will examine your abdomen to ensure that the fat in this area is soft and pinchable, which is ideal for the CoolSculpting system applicator. Photos will then be taken focussing on the areas of your abdomen which may benefit from spot reduction. Usually, there is more fat deposited in the lower abdomen than the upper abdomen.

Lower Upper Abdomen

The precise target locations on your abdomen will be marked to enable correct placement of the CoolSculpting applicator. A gel pad will then be applied to the abdominal area followed by the CoolSculpting suction cup that draws up the targeted tissue into the applicator and controlled cooling is delivered to freeze the fat. You may feel intense cold along with a pulling sensation for the first 5-10 minutes after which the area goes numb and you will have minimal or no discomfort. Each area requires about an hour of treatment. Both the upper and lower abdomen can be treated simultaneously if more than one CoolSculpting applicator is available. During this time, many people check their messages, send email, or take a nap.

After the procedure, you may experience temporary redness, bruising, sensitivity and firmness of the targeted area. These are temporary side effects which resolve on their own within 1-2 weeks. After about 3 weeks, you will notice improvement in the shape and size of your waist with full benefit of the procedure becoming apparent within 3 months.
